About
Through a lifetime spent immersed in the natural world and the creative process that arises from it, Karen’s artistic career weaves together stories of place and seasonal change into thoughtful and observant works. Her bush studio showcases the distinctive union of artistry and craftsmanship that defines her.
Karen has a thematic approach to making art. Materials and techniques vary according to the story being told. Currently she is working on oil paintings that aim to capture atmospheric light in the landscape and pose questions about land use, observable changes in weather and our ecological footprint.
Karen says “It is a constant source of interest, watching the skies respond to light, air movement, moisture and pollutants. Sometimes skies are threatening, sometimes soothing, but always a reminder of the magnificence of this small blue planet we inhabit.”
